Philomycus carolinianus, Florida. This shy slug is an inhabitant of eastern North American forests. Slugs of the family Philomycidae can be distinguished from all other pulmonate slugs in North America by the mantle covering the entire back of the animal. Shown here is an adult slug, and three very young slugs.
